What's up with Anthony Hamilton being one of VH1's You Oughta Know "artists on the rise"? They do know that his last album went platinum and was on the Billboard chart for a gazillion weeks, right? At what point is someone an established artist these days?

I wondered the same thing when I saw that ad. His inclusion in that program can probably be attributed to one of two things:

1) Target audience-- Anthony Hamilton is clearly established at this point, but not necessarily established with the aging white music consumer who gets artist recommendations from VH1, a channel that only plays videos approximately 10 hours a week.

or

2) Sony BMG paid VH1 a shload of money to feature him.

yeah, I guess it's all about crossover demographics. still. platinum. that shit's silly.
